Special Teams

Special Teams (we love allusions to sports, don't we?) are Discipleship Small Groups that meet at various times and places throughout the week, and are the heart of Grace Youth Ministries.  Special Teams are for students who profess Jesus Christ as savior and Lord and who want to grow in their faith.  The purpose of Special Teams is to encourage students to put on the character of Christ in every aspect of their lives and to warn them not to neglect their faith.  These groups are intensely relational.  We want students to deal out their lives to one another, to hold one another accountable, to pray for one another, to confess their sins to one another, to strengthen and encourage one another, so that they persevere in their faith and do not lose heart.  

For this reason, Special Teams are not ideal for students who have yet to make a decision about Jesus Christ, although no one who greatly desires to participate will be turned away!  Special teams are divided up as follows:  upperclassmen boys (juniors and seniors), upperclassmen girls, underclassmen boys (freshmen and sophomores), underclassmen girls, middle school boys, and middle school girls.  There are at least two youth leaders for every Special Team.
